Leicester Tournament Report
It was the hottest day of the year so far and what better way to spend it than a full day in the sunshine in the East Midlands. 7 MKC Korfers made the trip down early doors and were joined by a former teammate who made a special guest appearance – thanks, Eloise! The team didn’t get off to a great start with a loss against a good Bristol side but after a couple of Mini Milks and a top up on the factor 50 we were flying – literally in the case of Anna, who hit the ground hard after being taken out by a leaping boy from Nottingham (he must have heard she was from Derby)! Victories in 6/7 of the following games lead to the team finishing 7th overall. Highlight of the day though was Mike Richards scoring his first goal of 2010 and 2011’s goal too!

Mini League 2010 Update
Last Updated on Monday, 19 April 2010 19:22
Week two of the MKC mini league kicked off with early favourites, The Weak Links, against promising travellers Castle. After a close game, the away side seemed to have it sewn up, only to concede in the dying minutes thanks to a Dave ‘Road Runner’ Ansell running in shot (blink and you’ll miss him)! But further drama ensued! Just as it looked like the points were to be shared, Castle sunk a great midrange shot on the stroke of full time, stealing the points from the stunned home side; another crushing blow for the hotly tipped Weak Links.
Summer Tournaments

We are starting to get information through on upcoming korf tournaments. Summer tournaments are an excellent way to gain lots of korfball experience in a short space of time so we would definitely recommend it to all our beginners. They are also great fun and typically involve a social after a long day of korfing. Below is a short list of available tournaments so far!!! Please let Chris Floyd know if you are interested in playing in any of these tournaments or any others that you know about (or just contact the club at the usual address) . We will need at least 6 people min to send a team to a tournament with places allocated on a fastest reply option!!
Report on Lancaster tournament

Last Saturday saw 6 of our newest members and a few helping hands head up to Lancaster for a pre-season beginners tournament. The early morning start not withstanding (7.30am on a Saturday!) the day proved to be a great success with the team coming 4th out of the 12 teams there on the day.
Report on Leeds quadrangle tournament

A few hiccups on the journey across to Leeds with only Sue managing not to head the wrong way down the M1 – a trip to Wakefield wasn’t on the “to do” list for the day! The 5-team tournament produced mixed results for the Manchester squad and whilst the Johnsons sipped cocktails by the pool in Turkey those left behind pulled off a respectable third place finish.
Report on Manchester quadrangle tournament

The day didn’t get off to a flying start (those responsible for the great post-gate scandal of 2009 are not ready to laugh yet) but by 3pm the Bengals flag was flying high over the Velodrome in what was good preparation for the season ahead. It was great to see some old faces (don’t be offended, Helen) and some new faces turn out to get everyone back in the swing in time for the new season.
Manchester quadrangle tournament
A quadrangle tournament will be held at the Manchester Velodrome from 12pm-3pm on Sunday 4th October. This will be for selection for the Manchester Bengals and Renegades squads so Anna or Kristian will be in touch to ask you to play.
